Academy of Hair & Makeup — Terms & Conditions
By enrolling in any course, workshop, masterclass, program, coaching service, or other service offered by the Academy of Hair & Makeup Pty Ltd ("the Academy"), you agree to the following terms and conditions. These terms are designed to ensure clarity, fairness, and consistency for all students.
1. Enrolment & Deposit
1.1 A $500 deposit is required to secure your place in any individual course. For the Complete Career Change Program, the deposit is $1,000. For workshops and masterclasses, the deposit or payment amount will be specified at the time of booking.
1.2 The deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable to other dates, courses, coaching, services or individuals.
1.3 Your place in the course is confirmed once the deposit has been received and a confirmation email has been sent.
1.4 Each place in a class is reserved exclusively for the enrolled student and cannot be resold once the course has begun. For this reason, once enrolled, the full course fee remains payable regardless of attendance, withdrawal, or personal circumstances.
2. Refunds & Transfers
2.1 Except as set out in these terms, all fees paid to the Academy for courses, workshops, masterclasses, programs, coaching, and other services are non-refundable. This includes deposits, tuition paid in full or in part, and payments made under any payment plan.
2.2 All fees paid are non-transferable and cannot be applied to any other date, course, workshop, program, product, coaching or service.
2.3 Fees and enrolments are not transferable to any other person.
2.4 Refunds are not provided for change of mind, withdrawal, non-attendance, or a change in personal, financial, or work circumstances.
2.5 In cases of serious unforeseen circumstances (such as serious illness, injury, or genuine emergency), the Academy may, at its sole discretion and on a case-by-case basis, offer alternative arrangements. Supporting documentation may be requested. Any such arrangement is offered as a gesture of goodwill and does not create an entitlement for any other student or situation.
2.6 Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any rights or remedies you may have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified by agreement. Refunds or remedies will be provided where required by law.
2.7 Retail purchases, kits, and tools are covered separately under Section 10.
3. Student Liability for Fees
3.1 By enrolling, you enter into a binding agreement to pay the full course or program fee, regardless of which payment option you select.
3.2 The full fee remains payable even if you withdraw from the course, stop attending classes, or stop making payments. Non-attendance or discontinuing payments does not cancel your enrolment or reduce the amount owed.
3.3 If you stop making payments, the full remaining balance becomes immediately due and payable, and payment plan providers (including Ezidebit) may continue to debit the outstanding balance until it is paid in full.
3.4 The Academy reserves the right to recover unpaid fees, including through the use of debt recovery services, and to add reasonable recovery costs to the outstanding balance where permitted by law.
3.5 Certificates and statements of completion will not be issued until all fees have been paid in full, except for the Complete Career Change Program, where certificates are issued in accordance with clause 5.7.
3.6 If you are experiencing genuine difficulty with payments, contact the Academy before missing a payment. Arrangements made in advance are always easier than recovery after the fact.
4. Payment Options
4.1 A 2.2% booking administration fee applies to all payments other than cash. All transaction and processing fees are non-refundable. Students can choose to pay in cash to avoid these fees.
Option 1 — Pay in Full (Upfront)
4.2 The full tuition balance may be paid upon enrolment, either in person during class or over the phone.
Option 2 — Split Payment Plan for Individual Courses (No Interest)
4.3 $500 deposit.
4.4 Fifty percent of the remaining balance is due on Class 1.
4.5 The final fifty percent is due halfway through the course: Makeup Course — Class 5; Hairstyling Course — Class 4.
4.6 Late payments under this plan incur a $50 per week late fee every week until the balance is up-to-date.
4.7 If payment is more than 14 days overdue, your place may be forfeited and no refund will be given, unless a personalised arrangement has been agreed in writing with the Academy in advance. Forfeiting your place does not cancel your liability for the full fee under Section 3.
Option 3 — Weekly Instalments via Ezidebit
4.8 $500 deposit (for Individual Courses).
4.9 The remaining balance is paid in weekly instalments via Ezidebit.
4.10 Students may choose the Ezidebit option either at the time of enrolment or on their first day of class.
4.11 Weekly instalment amounts depend on the course and the point at which a student joins the course.
5. Complete Career Change Program
5.1 Enrolment in the Complete Career Change Program is subject to a separate Enrolment and Payment Agreement signed by each student. Where there is any inconsistency between these terms and a signed Enrolment and Payment Agreement, the signed agreement prevails.
5.2 The program may be paid in full at enrolment by bank transfer or cash, in which case no Academy administration or transaction fees apply. Card payments incur the fees set out in Section 7 and clause 4.1.
5.3 Alternatively, a $1,000 deposit secures your place, processed via Ezidebit at enrolment and non-refundable and non-transferable in accordance with Sections 1 and 2. The remaining balance is paid in fortnightly instalments via Ezidebit. The first instalment is deducted fourteen (14) days after your first course start date, or on the next available deduction day following enrolment, whichever is later. All following instalments are deducted fortnightly on the same day of the week.
5.4 The full program balance must be paid within six (6) months of the start date of your first course, regardless of attendance, progress, or whether you continue in the program.
5.5 Enrolment is complete, and your place reserved, once your Enrolment and Payment Agreement is signed and your deposit or full payment has been received. Places are not held on signature alone. Student liability under Section 3 applies to the full program fee from completed enrolment.
5.6 If your second course is not scheduled at enrolment, it is your responsibility to select a date from the Academy's published course calendar and notify the Academy within six (6) months of your first course start date. All program components must be completed within twelve (12) months of your first course start date. Components not completed within this period are forfeited, with no extensions except in special circumstances approved by the Academy in writing. The Academy is not required to issue reminders.
5.7 Certificates for courses completed within the program are issued at course completion provided your account is up to date with your agreed payment schedule and attendance requirements are met. Certificates will be withheld where the account is in arrears until the account is brought up to date.
5.8 The six (6) month business coaching program is recommended to commence after completing at least one certification course. It is your responsibility to book and commence coaching sessions in time to complete them within the twelve (12) month program period. Sessions may be rescheduled once with at least 24 hours' notice, with the rescheduled session held within seven (7) days, subject to availability. Sessions missed without notice, or not completed within that window, are forfeited.
5.9 The program includes one (1) professional photoshoot session, subject to the photoshoot terms in Section 9 and completion within the twelve (12) month program period.
5.10 Attendance and replacement classes for program courses are governed by Section 8. All Ezidebit fees in Section 7 apply to program payment plans.
6. Ezidebit Payment Terms (Weekly Instalments for Individual Courses)
6.1 Your first Ezidebit payment will be deducted three business days before your next scheduled class after signing up.
6.2 All following weekly payments are deducted in advance of your upcoming week of classes. Payments are scheduled three business days before the upcoming week of classes. Example (regular once-per-week course): if your class runs on Sunday, the payment will be deducted on the Wednesday before each class. Example (Express twice-per-week course): if your Express course runs Monday and Tuesday, your weekly payment will be deducted on the Wednesday before that week of classes, as it is calculated from the first class day that week.
6.3 Payments are deducted on the same weekday each week once your payment schedule is established.
6.4 Your weekly instalment amount and number of payments depend on when you join the course. Students who join later will have fewer instalments, which increases the weekly payment amount so that the course fee is completed three business days before the final class.
6.5 All weekly payment plans must be fully paid before the last day of class. Students cannot graduate or receive a certificate until their account is paid in full.
6.6 If a payment remains unpaid for 7 days, your attendance may be paused until your account is brought up to date.
6.7 If payments remain outstanding for 14 days, your enrolment may be cancelled and the full remaining balance will still be owed, in accordance with Section 3. Ezidebit may continue to debit the outstanding balance until it is paid in full.
7. Ezidebit Fees
7.1 Academy Administration & Management Fee: a 2.2% Academy administration and management fee is added to each Ezidebit instalment. This fee covers the ongoing setup, administration, and management of the payment plan.
7.2 Ezidebit Setup Fee: Ezidebit charges a once-off setup/admin fee of $2.20, which is applied when your payment plan is first created and deducted with your first Ezidebit payment.
7.3 Ezidebit Transaction Fees: Ezidebit transaction fees apply depending on the payment method used — Visa or Mastercard: 1.99% per transaction; Bank Direct Debit: $0.99 per transaction. These fees are charged by Ezidebit.
7.4 Failed Payment Fee: if a scheduled Ezidebit payment fails due to insufficient funds or bank rejection, Ezidebit will charge a $9.90 failed payment fee for each unsuccessful attempt.
7.5 Payment Retry: if a payment fails, Ezidebit will automatically attempt to retry the payment within three business days. Students are responsible for ensuring sufficient funds are available in their account to avoid failed payment fees.
8. Missed Classes & Replacement Classes
8.1 Students are entitled to up to two replacement classes at no additional cost.
8.2 Replacement classes must be completed within 12 months of the original course start date.
8.3 Replacement classes are subject to availability and may be taken with another student group.
8.4 If more than two classes are missed, additional replacement classes will be charged at the standard daily rate, calculated as: course price ÷ total number of course days (plus any transaction fees).
8.5 Students paying via Ezidebit or split payments must be up to date with payments before booking or attending replacement classes.
9. Content Photoshoot & Instagram Workshop
9.1 These inclusions hold value and are not refundable, transferable, or redeemable for cash.
9.2 If a student withdraws before these sessions take place, access to them is forfeited.
9.3 Changes to a booked photoshoot session must be made at least eight (8) days before the session. Changes or cancellations with less than eight (8) days' notice incur a $250 rebooking fee, including in cases of illness, as models and photographers must be paid regardless of attendance. A valid medical certificate may be required to rebook. No-shows and same-day cancellations forfeit the booked session, and rebooking is subject to the $250 fee and date availability.
9.4 Photoshoot days are held on a limited number of scheduled dates each year, published by the Academy. It is the student's responsibility to book into an available date within their eligible period, in accordance with the Academy's photoshoot day guidelines published on the Academy's website.
10. Retail Purchases, Kits & Tools
10.1 No refunds or exchanges are provided for change of mind.
10.2 Faulty items may be returned for assessment within 30 days of purchase.
10.3 Items must be in good condition, in their original packaging, and accompanied by proof of purchase.
10.4 Items will be assessed by the manufacturer to determine whether the issue is a product fault or misuse.
10.5 Faulty items will be repaired or replaced in accordance with the manufacturer's warranty guidelines and your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
10.6 Items that are deemed to be damaged through misuse or by the user will not be accepted for refund, repair, or replacement.
11. Behaviour & Professional Conduct
11.1 Students must behave respectfully and professionally toward teachers, classmates, models, and staff.
11.2 The Academy reserves the right to remove any student who behaves inappropriately.
11.3 No refund will be provided in cases of misconduct, and the full fee remains payable in accordance with Section 3.
11.4 The Academy reserves the right to refuse future enrolment to any student removed for misconduct.
12. Changes by the Academy
12.1 The Academy may occasionally need to change class dates, times, teachers, or venue. Where this occurs, students will be notified as early as possible and offered an alternative.
12.2 If the Academy postpones a course start date, enrolments and all fees paid will transfer to the new date.
12.3 If the Academy cancels a course entirely and no suitable alternative can be offered, students will receive a transfer to another course date or a refund of fees paid for classes not delivered. This is the only circumstance in which a refund is offered outside of Section 2.
13. Photography & Media Consent
13.1 By enrolling, you consent to photography and video being taken of you and your work for educational and promotional purposes.
13.2 If you require a privacy exemption and do not wish to have your image published as part of our brand, you must notify your teacher before or during the time your image is captured. If you do not, the Academy reserves the right to capture and publish any content as needed.
14. Agreement
14.1 By enrolling and paying your deposit, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to all terms and conditions listed above.
